Clarence is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Clarence follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We always stay at the Asa Ransom House when we are in town. All of the rooms are lovely, but we particularly appreciate the Abagail Garden suite. This suite has a very comfortable sitting room adjacent to the bedroom. We find it the perfect spot to enjoy happy hour before dinner or just read a book. The sitting room can also be closed off with pocket doors leading to the bedroom if you have an insomniac partner that canβt sleep through the night! A door off the bedroom leads to a relaxing porch overlooking the back lawn and gardens. Clarence experienced a torrential downpour during our last visit in late July but we were still able to sit outside on the porch and enjoy the breeze and watch the show while staying high and dry. Thereβs just so many things a love about this historic Bed & Breakfast . . . From the very thoughtful and fully stocked coffee/tea bar that is available 24/7 in the game room. To the most amazing breakfasts!.. The chef makes incredible quiches, muffins, and fruit bowls. Iβve often thought the chef should put together his own cookbook. He serves a different unique flavor every morning. . . and youβd swear he must carefully select each fruit before he will

Bradley is a wonderful host, and makes you feel quite welcome, and comfortable. Rooms are nicely appointed, with attention to detail of the period. Nice selection of antiques in the rooms, and common areas. We especially like the Rebecca Hamlin room, with its cozy fireplace, and library of old-time radio stories. Breakfasts are delicious, and of gourmet quality. An added bonus is the complimentary E.V. charging. Have stayed several times and look forward to our next visit.

I grew up in the area, where the Asa Ransom House is a well-known & cherished landmark, but had never visited. I was in town recently for a memorial service, and my stay could not have been better. I fell in love with the inn instantly. Even though my personal aesthetic tends to be more minimalist and modern, the inn is so warm and cosy and tastefully decorated, I was ready to move in permanently. The weather was freezing, with some light snow, and the fireplace in my room was a delight, as was the super-soft blanket. The innkeepers, Bradley and Cassandra, were friendly, cheerful, attentive, and welcoming, and the breakfasts were absolutely perfect β fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented in the airy, bright dining room. (I had just come from a highly recommended inn in Philadelphia, where the entire breakfast, disappointingly, consisted of packaged food, except for some tired hard-boiled eggs and bland slices of cantaloupe!) Kudos to B & C for their hard work and going the extra mile. I will be back β even my husband is intrigued and wants to visit. Thank you for such a comfortable, friendly stay.

Wow, what a wonderful inn. We were driving across the interstate as we often do, where we usually settle for a nondescript hotel to rest, but we found this wonderful place instead! The inn is beautiful, cozy and comfortable. The kind of place where you want to settle in to the parlor, have a coffee and a good book. Our room -- quiet and comfortable. Bradley, the innkeeper, perfectly attentive and welcoming. Breakfast? Delicious and the perfect way to start the rest of our Christmas travels. Bradley, you spoiled us. See you again -- every time we travel from Boston to Ohio. We'll look forward to another chance to experience your hospitality. Oh, I nearly forgot... the price... no more than those forgettable cookie-cutter roadside hotels. Treat yourself to the Asa Ransom House instead!
